Parkinson’s is a debilitating neuro-degenerative disease that affects millions of people worldwide. While there is no cure, there is evidence that early detection can be beneficial. One of the earliest signs of Parkinson’s disease, is loss of the sense of smell. Some commonly affected scents are peppermint, anise, and coffee. So if we asked people every morning, to see if they can smell their coffee and Parkinscents was born.
We partnered with the Parkinson’s Education and Research Foundation based in Florida and their medical director Dr. Isaacson who is passionate about early diagnosis and getting people involved in clinical trials or treatment options sooner.
We created coffee lids, sleeves and posters to educate coffee drinkers about the possible warnings signs for Parkinson’s and encourage them to talk to their doctor if they experience any. We partnered with coffee shops across New York and San Francisco to spread our message with the hopes of making a difference and possibly, better health outcomes.
